What is the Biblical View of Marriage? What is the Biblical View of Marriage?

© Used with permission Marriage is not about... YOU!

Marriage is not about... finding romance! finding romance!

© Used with permission Marriage is not about... gaining a personal maid!

Marriage is not about... changing your partner!

Marriage defined... “Love has become something that is defined more by romance than Romans, identified more with sensuality that scripture. When marriages fail to deliver Hollywood-love-story results, couples often begin to feel they are missing out. Believers have learned to define love in a one-dimensional reality: “How do you feel?” Yet, to stop at a “feelings” definition alone is certain to cripple anyone who commits him/herself to another in marriage, friendship, or any other type of intimate human interaction. It’s a sure disappointment since feeling “in love” may vary month to month, and in some cases, day to day.” Jeremy Lelek LPC, Association of Biblical Counselors Journal August 2006

Marriage is defined by “Intimacy apart from commitment to remain together is inadequate; commitment to remain in association apart from intimacy is equally deficient. Both elements are necessary... commitment and intimacy commitment and intimacy
