Life in the 1500’s By Callum Scrimgeour.

Life in that time. Rich and poor Life for poor people was very rough. People were living on the streets with old and ripped clothes. No one would even care about them. Poor people would not have enough food to stay healthy. If they were lucky enough to have 2 meals a day, that’s still not enough food. Nobles and royals were very posh and wore very nice clothes. They would have big feasts with tables you couldn’t even see the end of! The size of the castle’s they stayed in were huge.

More about the rich and royals Kings and Queens would wear nice dyed silk clothes and probably ate more than three things a day! The Queens and rich women also wore head dresses and large skirts to make themselves look nice. They could get around easily as they could ride around on horses not minding the poor at all.

Back to the poor The poor people were people that looked very ugly and skinny and also longed for happiness. They would love it if they got 2 things to eat a day. That’s only 2 thirds of what we should be eating each day! It’s normal for us to eat more than that. But it’s normal for them to eat 1 or less things a day.as they wanted more.

Differences RICH and ROYALS We have lots of comfort. We can and drink as much as we want. We are treated with royalty. We can get around on horses. POOR We are homeless nor are we wealthy. We have no food or drink to keep ourselves alive. We get treated like dirt. We have to walk everywhere and our legs get tired and sore.

Sports and Hobbies Some soldiers and royal people liked to do archery and jousting and many more. People also liked to dance, have parties, sew, hunt, ride horses, read and paint. They done all sorts of things.

Medicines When somebody had bad blood, they would put bleaches on them to suck out the bad blood. If they had a sore back, they could just put some donkey skin on their back. If you had a bad arm or leg disease, they would have to amputate it.

Weapons Back in the 1500’s, soldiers would use swords, knifes and bows. Mostly in battle but they could be used while hunting as well. Some royal people used them as well. Like James v of Scotland. Commoners didn’t get to use them that much because they were too poor.

How they travelled They travelled on land and sea but not sky because they had no electricity for planes. They travelled on big boats (mostly the rich) and small boats. They used oars to row themselves and whoever else was on the boat. When on land they could walk, ride on horse back and be pulled in carriages.
