Dawn space probe launched September 28, 2007 Dawn lifted off at 7:34 am at Cape Canaveral Air Force station Florida. It is a project of the U.S.A and N.A.S.A The goal of the Dawn space probe is to find out how the solar system was created.

Dawn space probe will take a 4-8 year flight to the main asteroid belt. The asteroid belt is in the region of the solar system between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The Dawn space probe uses ion-propulsion to move. This mission will end July Dawn carries cameras and spectrometers. Spectrometers spread out light or other types of radiation Dawn studies a dwarf planet called Ceres and an asteroid named Vesta.

Ceres is a dwarf planet just like Pluto. Ceres was discovered on January 1,1801. Ceres is actually named “1 Ceres” Scientists believe that there is frozen water beneath Ceres crust. Ceres is 606 by 565 miles wide It is about the size of Texas

Vesta is an asteroid. Vesta was discovered on March 29,1807 by Hinrick Wilhelm. Vesta is actually named “4 Vesta” Vesta is about the size of Arizona. The surface of Vesta is made of basaltic rock
