Purpose and Intent of Title I-A The purpose of Title I-A is to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic standards and assessments. Title I-A provides funding that may be used to provide additional instructional staff, professional development, extended-time programs, and other strategies for raising student achievement in high-poverty schools. Targeted Assistance Program or Schoolwide Program

Schoolwide Title I Program A Schoolwide Program is based upon a comprehensive reform strategy and is designed to upgrade the entire educational program in a Title I school. A Schoolwide Program allows the staff in a school with 40% of students identified as eligible for Free/Reduced lunch, to redesign the entire educational program to serve all students. The Aberdeen Elementary School follows the Schoolwide Title I Program

Targeted Assistance Title I Program A Targeted Assistance program provides educational services to identified individual students who have been targeted based on academic needs. Services are delivered through extending time for the services, never during the regular instructional time. The Aberdeen Middle School and Aberdeen High School follow this program.

Similarities Between the Two The state funding allocation formula is the same. Funding is based on # of children from low-income families (i.e., eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch). Any school with greater than 35% of students coming from families with low-incomes is eligible for Title I funding. The District must rank order eligible children within their boundaries which is used to determine the allocation of Title I funds.

Similarities Between the Two While eligibility for school funding IS based on the # of students from families with low incomes… selection of students for Title I services IS NOT. In other words, students are eligible for Title I services based on what their academic achievement data show to be academic needs.

Purpose & Intent of Title I-C Education for Migratory Children The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to support high-quality and comprehensive educational programs for migratory children to help reduce the educational disruptions and other problems that result from repeated moves. Ensure that migratory children are provided with appropriate educational services (including supportive services) that address their special needs in a coordinated and efficient manner.

The Purpose & Intent of Title II-A Teacher and Principal Training The purpose of the teacher & principal training program is to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as: Improving teacher and principal quality; Increasing the number of highly qualified teachers (HQT) in the classroom;HQT Increasing the number of highly qualified principals and assistant principals in the classroom

Purpose & Intent of Title II-D Enhancing Education Through Technology The primary purpose of the EETT,a federal technology grant program funded under Title II-D, is to increase student achievement through the effective integration of technology into curricula and instruction. The purpose of this grant, therefore, is to: Improve student academic achievement, including the technology literacy of all students. Improve the capacity of teachers to integrate technology effectively into curricula and instruction. Increase the ability of teachers to teach.

Purpose & Intent of Title X-C McKinney-Vento Act The Education of Homeless Children and Youth Program ensures that students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence are provided a free, appropriate public education. This includes educational services that provide for an equal opportunity to enroll in, attend, and be successful in school.

Purpose & Intent of Title III Language Instruction for LEP Students The purpose of the Language Instruction for LEP program To provide assistance to school districts in meeting regulations in regards to the education of English language learners. To assist school districts in creating, implementing and maintaining English language development programs that provide academically rigorous and equitable learning opportunities for English language learners. To promote culturally relevant and responsive curricula and pedagogies that embrace the unique identities of English language learners. To help break down social and academic barriers that prevent English language learners from succeeding in schools. / /
