Secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of death in the United States – 45,000 South Dakota children are exposed to smoke at home Tobacco use costs South Dakotans over a quarter of a billion dollars annually in healthcare and other costs – the equivalent of a hidden $400 tax on every man, woman & child in South Dakota. South Dakota teens rank among the highest in the nation in reported tobacco use 44% H.S. students are current smokers
