The Silencer of Conscience 10/19/14

The Silencer of Conscience  The silencer of the conscience is SIN.  The problem of sin originates in the mind.

Two Possible Responses to Sin and a Guilty Conscience 1)Responding with godly sorrow/grief. 2)Responding with worldly sorrow/grief.

The Biblical Response to Sin and a Guilty Conscience:  True believers respond to sin and the guilty conscience with godly sorrow and true repentance.

Marks of True Biblical Repentance 1 st Mark : The realization of conscience that our sin is first and foremost a hostile offense against God himself.

Marks of True Biblical Repentance 2 nd Mark : The realization of conscience that our issue is not only that we sin but that we are all inherently sinful.

Marks of True Biblical Repentance 3 rd Mark : The realization of conscience that God desires brokenness and sorrow over our sinfulness – not self-righteousness.

Marks of True Biblical Repentance 4 th Mark : The realization of conscience that it is only God himself that can truly cleanse us from our sins and sinfulness.

Marks of True Biblical Repentance 5 th Mark : The realization of conscience that our sinfulness comes from within us, we need a renewed mind - not a new environment.

Do You Desire to Be Free of Your Sin and Guilt? Then come to the Lord with brokenness and godly sorrow over your sin and with true biblical repentance.
