“Good Mourning!?” Matt. 5:4

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him. ~ Matthew 4:23-25

Literally: Happy; fortunate. Old English: To cover something in blood to cleanse or purify. Christian blessing: Purifying sin and evil by the power of the blood of Christ. Good relationship with God and gifts from God.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are you who recognize you’re spiritually helpless. You’re now trustworthy to get the Kingdom.”

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” ~ Matthew 5:4

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4) Literally means: “Blessed are you when you regret what separates you from God badly enough to want change. Then, you’ll be reassured and renewed.”

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. ~ 2 Corinthians 7:10

“…if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body [sins], you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons [and daughters] of God.” ~ Romans 8:13b-14

“Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength…” ~ Isaiah 40:30-31
