Peacemakers

Blessed – Happy For theirs is the kingdom of heaven For they shall be comforted For they shall inherit the earth For they shall be satisfied For they shall receive mercy For they shall see God For they shall be called sons of God

Peace – Righteousness The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable Jas 3:17 Strive for peace… and for holiness… Heb 12:14 righteousness and peace kiss each other… Psa 85:10 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword… Mt 10:34

Sons of God “God of peace” Rom 15:33; 16:20; Phil 4:9; 1 Thess 5:23; Heb 13:20 making peace by the blood of his cross… Col 1:20 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God… Rom 8:14 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace… Gal 5:22 Love your enemies… so that you may be sons of your Father… Mt 5:44-45

1. Possess all beatitudes Poor in spirit Mourn Meek Hunger for righteousness Merciful Pure in heart Persecuted

2. Takes initiative So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 5:23-24

3. Don’t retaliate You have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 5:38-39

4. Show kindness And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you. 5:40-42

5. Pray for enemies You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 5:43-45

6. Greet enemies For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. 5:46-48

7. Don’t judge Judge not, that you be not judged. 7:1 8. Have a HOLY double standard For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 7:2

9. Confess own sin first Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 7:3 10. Live by the “Golden Rule” So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. 7:12
