Presentation transcript:

How to prepare an inventory Steps –Locate sources Eurostat National statistics Old reports EU projects (FLEETS, TRACCS) –Collect data (raw) –Organize data according to requirements –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit –Gap filling –Check against known data (eg Fuel consumption)

Population –Locate sources (Turkish Statistical Institute) (Ministry of Transport) Istanbul Emissions Inventory Work (literature, previous studies) –Collect data (raw) Total population, average vehicle age –Organize data according to requirements file –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit eg. Diesel Passenger Cars split to engine size –Gap filling No gap filling required, final dataset based on total numbers –Check against known data Statistics (go to step 1 and verify)

Mileage –Locate sources (Turkish Statistical Institute) (Ministry of Transport) Prof. Alper Ünal, ITU (Istanbul Technical University) –Collect data (raw) Annual mileage from studies, –Organize data according to requirements file –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit eg. Total Vehicle kilometers for all vehicle categories –Gap filling Same mileage for all HDV categories –Check against known data Statistics (go to step 1 and verify)

Speed –Locate sources (Ministry of Transport) –Collect data (raw) Speed limits in various driving conditions –Organize data according to requirements file –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit eg. All vehicles in the same category drive with the same average speed –Gap filling No gap filling required –Check against known data Statistics (go to step 1 and verify)

Share –Locate sources (Ministry of Transport) –Collect data (raw) Total length of roads, reports –Organize data according to requirements file –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit Fraction of rural single carriageway 75% Fraction of rural dual carriageway 25% All vehicles in the same category have the same driving share –Gap filling No gap filling required –Check against known data Statistics (go to step 1 and verify)

Mean Fleet Cumulative Mileage –Locate sources (Turkish Statistical Institute) (Ministry of Transport) –Collect data (raw) Total population, average vehicle age –Organize data according to requirements file –Make assumptions when categories don’t fit eg. Cumulative mileage = average age x annual mileage –Gap filling No gap filling required, data provided by calculations –Check against known data Statistics (go to step 1 and verify)
