2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect a the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever- increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. a

R.V.G. Tasker: Whatever may be the exact significance of this difficult word, the main emphasis in the verse in upon the transformation in the Christian as he contemplates the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

What matters is that we have an encounter with the Lord (who is the Spirit) that brings about a transformation which is a reflection of the splendour of the Lord

their economics, their politics, their ability to form community—you have no reason to believe it is genuine mystical (spiritual) experience. It is often just people with an addiction to religion itself, which is not that uncommon.

Mysticism (spiritual encounter) is not just a change in some religious ideas or affirmations, but it is an encounter of such immensity that everything else shifts in position.
