+ Increasing OT’s role in Mental Health Duquense University, Pittsburgh, PA Created newsletter after experience to promote OT in mental health settings Explained the role of occupational therapy in mental health, barriers that many war veterans with mental health diagnoses experience, and the project at Shepherd’s Heart Newsletter was sent to to local newspapers Pennsylvania congressmen President Obama Local high schools

+ Increasing OT’s role in Mental Health Duquense University, Pittsburgh, PA To encourage awareness, the newsletter included and eraser with the statement “Erase Stigmas Associated with Mental Illness”. The eraser served as a tangible reminder that everyone can play a part in reducing stigmas associated with mental illnesses.

+ Increasing diversity within the f i e l d o f O T Q u i n n i p i a c U n i v e r s i t y, H a m d e n, C T In Nicaragua the occupational therapy students assessed the needs of the people living in challenging conditions. They were able to build ramps and educate the people of Nicaragua on how to do certain activities while reducing the risk of injury.
