AMY BUCHERT- GALACTIC TIPS CLICK FOR ACTIVITY

You will need to click the mouse to show answers for activities. This will allow you to control the timing of answers shown. We suggest that students keep a journal. It is critical for students to use writing skills to explain their answers. Please take time to discuss possible solutions to problems. TEACHER TIPS

This activity will address the following State Math Standards: Students will develop, analyze and explain procedures for computation and techniques for estimation. (NCTM Standard 7; MO 2.3, 3.3) Check and explain the reasonableness of solutions, strategies, and results (NCTM Standard 7; MO 1.7, 3.3, 3.7 and 4.1) Select appropriate methods of computation, such as mental arithmetic, estimation, calculator to reflect upon solutions, strategies and results. (NCTM Standard 7;MO 3.3, 3.6 and 3.7)

Do all operations in the order in which they are given. In the following problems, make note of these symbols and what they stand for. x = multiply / = divided by

Do all operations in the order in which they are given.

Name two numbers with a product of forty-eight and whose sum is sixteen.
