Example of Student Research Anti-matter In the Universe How did the Universe get to be as we see it today ? Where is all the anti- matter that came with the “Big-Bang” that created the universe ? My group is involved in understanding the difference between matter and anti-matter. We collide matter against anti-matter using high energy particle accelerators and reproduce in laboratory what the universe looked like in the very early (fraction of a second) since it was created…baby universes ! Typically 2-3 undergrads/year involved in this research, contribute to peer- reviewed publications Many claim undergrad research was their biggest thrill of their entire undergrad education Coveted by top research schools for their PhD program and industry because of their early exposure to cutting-edge research and problem solving ability
