Presentation transcript:

Welcome to St Simon’s 22 nd SUNDAY 2013 Year of Luke City Council called to say we have residents phoning the police on Sundays when they see a car on a double yellow line…..

INTROIT In the name of God the Father in the name of God the Son in the name of God the Holy Spirit in the name of God.

Penitential Rite Kyrie Eleison (x3) Christe Eleison (x3) Kyrie Eleison (x3) Greek: Lord / Christ / Lord have mercy

THE WORD this year is based on the Gospel of LUKE. The first reading (from the Old Testament) is linked to the Gospel passage. The second reading (from St Paul) is continuous but not connected to the other readings.

FIRST READING WISDOM The wise need only an attentive ear

Psalm 68 Response: Lord you have made a home for the poor

EPISTLE HEBREWS – 24 You have not come to something that can be grabbed

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia (Plainchant)

GOSPEL LUKE Jesus is invited to dinner by a Pharisee

APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL In response to the Gospel, anyone may try and say a prayer, ending: Lord in your mercy….. Missal suggests 4 intentions That our church might….. That our society might….. That our parish might….. At this special time we might.. PLEASE NOTE: these prayers are for us here. Those who are absent (the poor, refugees, sick, dead etc) should be remembered at the “memento” during the Eucharistic prayer

The plate is not passed here unless for a previously intimated good cause. If you wish to support St Simon’s you must do this through your bank or the envelope system. Forms in sacristy. Box at back for visitors’ donations. SUNDAY MASS 10 & 6pm in English 6 Vigil & 12 noon in Polish DAILY except Sat. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Sat 12

The Lord be with you And with your spirit Lift up your hearts We lift them up to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right and just PREFACE to the Eucharistic Prayer…..

SANCTUS (C Landry) Holy holy holy, Lord God of hosts Heaven and earth are full of your glory Hosanna hosanna hosanna in the highest Blessed is He who comes, in the name of the Lord Hosanna hosanna hosanna in the highest

MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION (C Landry) Save us, save us, Saviour of the world For by your cross and resurrection You have set us free

GREAT AMEN

THE LORD’S PRAYER If English is not your first language you are encouraged to say this prayer in the language in which you first learned it The peace of the Lord be with you And with your spirit

Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us (x2) Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof. But only say the word and my soul shall be healed

COMMUNION PROCESSION As we eat this bread and drink this cup though many we are one. One bread, one cup, one faith, one church, one Lord for evermore.

POSTCOMMUNION Christ be near at either hand Christ behind, before me stand Christ with me where e’er I go Christ around, above, below. Christ the King and Lord of all Find me ready at his call Christ receive my service whole Hand and body, heart and soul. Thanks to him who for our food Gives his sacred flesh and blood Praise to him unceasing rise Christ whose glory fills the skies.
