Linear Functions Parent Function Parent Function of a liner function (Jesse). Jesse is the function to all linear functions . She's the base to their life. She has a domain and range of all real numbers. One of the many children of Jesse is f(x) = -x-2. Its domain and range is all real numbers to. Linear Function

Linear Functions (contd.) Another liner function of Jesse is her inequality children. Its domain and range are all real numbers Inequality of a Linear Function

Absolute Value Functions Parent Function Parent Function of an Absolute Value Function (Martha). She makes the shape of a V and has brackets around her to contain her absoluteness. Her domain is all real numbers and her range is all real numbers except non-positive numbers.

Absolute Value Functions (contd.) An example of a absolute function is f(x)=|-2x|-2 Its domain and range is all real numbers. An inequality of an absolute value is the function of x is less than or equal to |x+4|-3 It has a domain and range of a real numbers to. Inequality of a Absolute Value Function

Quadratic Functions Parent Function The Parent Function of a Quadratic Function (Mr. Quadratic) Mr. Quadratic is a function who has a ² on him . He has many different ways of writing him and they are his power up levels: y=ax² y=ax² +c and y=ax² +bx+c He also has a domain of all real numbers and a range of all real numbers except non-positive numbers Parent Function

Quadratic Functions (contd.) Here’s an example of Mr. Quadratic on a power up level It has a domain of all real numbers and a range of all positive numbers. Mr. Quadratic's sidekicks are the inequalities of him here’s an example of one y is greater than or equal to -4x²-2 It has a domain of all real numbers and a range of all non-positive numbers Inequality of a Quadratic Function

Polynomial Function Polynomial Function Unfortunately the polynomial function doesn't have a parent function because it’s a such a dysfunctional family. But fortunately it has it own degree which is quartic. Its domain and range is all real numbers. Its inequality is x-5x²-3 Inequality of a Polynomial Function

Square Root Function Parent Function of Square Root Function (Mr. and Mrs. Square) They make semi straight lines and have the square root symbol within them (√) . There domain is x is greater than or equal to 0 There range is y is greater than or equal to 0. Parent Function of a Square Root Function

Square Root Functions (contd.) There Children are kind of tricky they like to add stuff for example they added a 2 on the outside and a plus one to the inside. There domain is x is greater than or equal to -1 There range is y is greater than or equal to 0 The inequality for the Square’s is √X-4+3 There domain is all real numbers and there range is y is greater than or equal to 2. Inequality of a Square Root Function

Cube Root Functions The Cube Root Parent Function (Mrs. Smith). Mrs. Smith is a cube who has a ³ on her. Her domain and range is all real numbers. Parent Function of a Cube Root

Cube Root Functions Cube Root Function Her children are a simple replica of her with slight changes, for example ³√x-5 She has a domain and rage of all real numbers just like her mom. Her grandchildren or inequalities just like this one ³√x-1)+1 Its domain and range is the same as its mother all real numbers Inequality of a Cube Root Function

Rational Functions Parent Function of a Rational Function (Molly). Molly is the function you want when you want a rational answer. You can write her in three different ways: Y=a/x Y=a/x-h+4 Y=ax+b/cx+d Her domain and range all real numbers except 0. Parent Function of a Rational Function

Rational Functions (contd.) An example of Molly’s rational function is f(x)= -4/x. Its domain and range is all real numbers except 0. An inequality of this function is function of x is less than 4 over x plus three. It has a domain and range of all real numbers except 0. Inequality of a Rational Function
