Welcome to St Simon’s FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY

ENTRY CAROL O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie Above thy deep & dreamless sleep the silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. O morning stars together proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King & peace to all on earth For Christ is born of Mary and gathered all above While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love. How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is given So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven No ear may hear his coming but in this world of sin Where meek souls will receive him still the dear Christ enters in.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED 1. I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 2. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord, 3.who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, 4.suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. 5.He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead. 6.He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. 7.From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. 8.I believe in the Holy Spirit, 9.the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, 10.the forgiveness of sins 11.the resurrection of the body 12.and life everlasting. Amen

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL In response to the Gospel anyone may try and say a prayer, ending: Lord in your mercy….. Missal suggests 4 intentions That our church might….. That our society might….. That our parish might….. At this special time we might.. PLEASE NOTE: these prayers are for us here. Those who are absent (the poor, refugees, sick, dead etc) should be remembered at the “memento” during the Eucharistic prayer

POST-COMMUNION The first Nowell the angels did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay In fields where they lay keeping their sheep On a cold winter’s night that was so deep Nowell (x4) born in the King of Israel They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east beyond the far And to the earth it gave great light And so it continued both day and night. Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord That hath made heaven and earth of nought And with his blood us all hath bought.
