What is FP7? 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development 2007 – 2013 Budget of over €50 billion Two main strategic objectives: to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European industry; to encourage international competitiveness while promoting research that supports EU policies.

FP7 Structure and Budget

FP7 Success Rates (from 2007/08) 33,919 eligible proposals submitted €56.7 billion requested 5,477 proposals retained for funding (worth EUR 10 billion) Overall success rate: 16 % Co-operation: 18% Ideas: 4% (skewed by first starting grant call) People: 29% Capacities: 18% UK: second highest participation after Germany – 2,546 participations worth EUR 910 million UK overall success rate: 23%
