Topic Two: Which character is the most alienated/lonely in Of Mice and Men? Why do you believe so? Develop three examples which prove your point and be sure to refute why the other characters are NOT the most alienated/lonely. Kyle Supko Chyna Johnsson Nikki D’Agostino Victoria Casatelli

“He pulled his hat down low over his eyes. “George gonna give me hell,” he said. George gonna wish he was alone an’ not have me botherin’ him… If George don’t want me... I’ll go away. I’ll go away.” –Lennie (p. 100) Lennie feels bad for what he did and he wants to be alone. He doesn’t want to be around George because he knows that he doesn’t want him around.

“Why can’t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely” –Curley’s wife (p.86) Curley’s wife asks Lennie why she cant associate with him. She doesn't want to cause any harm and is not acknowledged.

Lennie glared at her. “George says I ain’t to have nothing to do with you-talk to you or anything” (p.86) Lennie is annoyed that Curley’s wife can get him in trouble. He wants to avoid her so George and the other men and Curley don’t get mad at him.

Whit said, “…Ever’ time the guys is around she shoes up. She’s lookin’ for Curley, or she’s lookin’ for it. Seems like she can’t keep away from guys.” (51) Some of the other guys have noticed that Curley’s wife is always going places and ‘looking’ for him but she is never with him. It’s almost like she isn’t trying to find him, but she is trying to find other men.
