Special focus on SMEs More than 1.2 billion package - Cooperation: around €970 M allocated to the support of SMEs (includes €140 M for continuation of a pilot action dedicated to SMEs in Health) - Capacities: €252 M "Research for the benefit of SMEs" Risk-Sharing Finance Facility – Risk Sharing Instrument (RSFF - RSI) Cooperation: €150 million boost for RSI loan guarantee facility for SMEs / small mid-caps => leveraging €1 billion loans for R&I

Special focus on innovation Exploitation of existing research results (at least €220 M) Both EU and non-EU funded results. Widening participation: Pilot action ERA Chairs (€12 M) 5 ERA Chairs to build excellence in less developed regions Pilot to be launched in the Autumn to prepare for Horizon 2020 ERA chairs = outstanding academics attracted by universities or institutions to build excellent teams ERA chairs host= institutions demonstrating the ability to support excellence (must provide excellent facilities and comply with ERA principles e.g. open recruitment)
