Model pengkomputeran secara rangkaian Pengkomputeran terpusat (Centralised) Penggunaan kerangka utama dimana alatan input/output seperti terminal, pencetak dihubungkan secara terus kepada komputer ini. Pengkomputeran teragih (Distributed) Beberapa komputer seperti pc yang mempunyai sistem tersendiri dihubungkan dalam satu rangkaian komputer.

(samb.) Pengkomputeran kerjasama (Collaborative) Sesuatu tugas disiapkan oleh setiap komputer. Rangkaian digunakan sekadar untuk pemindahan data. Pengkomputeran kerjasama (Collaborative) Komputer yang dihubungkan mempunyai tugas yang tersendiri yang saling melengkapi (complement) kepada tugas komputer yang satu lagi.

(samb.) Rangkaian digunakan untuk penukaran data dan perkhidmatan komputer. Perisian diperlukan untuk mengambil manfaat pengkomputeran secara kerjasama ini. Contoh penggunaan dalam rangkaian berasaskan pelayan (server) Pelayan data Pelayan pencetak Pelayan-pelanggan (client-server)
