Battle of Andenne Task Force One Lafayette Phase 1: Assault Andenne

Great Communication Bounding Overwatch thru forest Situational Awareness Grider Ironmike TC-Dutch Dvr-Mousetrap

Moving out Covering Moving out BOUNDING OVERWATCH

Situational Awareness Clock Technique While Moving/Assaulting Panzer! 2 O’Clock!

Phase 2: Defend Andenne Difficulty Communicating Targets Lots of Panzers! Need Air Support!! Lots of Enemy Infantry! ??? Where do I need to go to help?

Clock Method Technique when Defending Fixed Callsigns Reporting SUGGESTION: Leaders need to know where the enemy is, where his people are, determine if the weapon system you have is sufficient, and if not, move others to locations where they are needed based on the weapon system they have, and the enemy situation.

Clock Technique in Defense (12 O’Clock established by last direction of assault) Objective (Andenne) Direction of assault Panzers! 5 O’Clock 88 at 2 O’clock On ridge! Enemy Infantry On Objective (Or in perimeter)

Fixed Callsigns and Reporting If you look at the Task Force One Webpage under Task Organization: Scouts (FOX) Armor (STEEL) Infantry (BLUE) Callsigns serve more than having “cool handles” In one word you tell the “manager” (or CO) of the battle who you are, what kind of weapon system you have. The manager or leader of the bunch may not be me, Dutch may have a SMG, Nomatic may have a A- 13.

FOR EXAMPLE “TANGO ONE” –Guy who’s managing or leading everybody Steel One –Guy who has a tank and is leading the tanks Steel Two –Guy in a tank who is following Steel One around, or is getting direction from Steel One Blue One –Guy with a rifle or SMG and is leading a bunch of infantry Fox One –Guy performing scouting functions

Reports SITREP (Situation Report) –Tanker/Mech style(Preferred Technique) “Tango One this is Steel One. Engaging 10 Panzers at 5 O’Clock. 4, 0 out” Interpretation: Leader, I, the Leader of the tanks am engaging tanks at the 5 O’Clock area in our defense, I have a total of 4 tanks and 0 infantry with me. This tells me or whoever is managing or leading that we are in pretty good shape at that area for the threats indicated. If a guy just spawned and is wondering where he needs to go I can say reinforce the 5 O’Clock position, or get him where he is needed and reference a clock position.

How it all works together Contact! Tango 1 this is Steel 1, Engaging ’88 at two O’Clock, 3, 0, out Tango 1 this is Blue 2, Infantry in the perimeter! Contact! Tango 1 this is Steel 4, engaging 10 Panzers at 5 O’Clock, 1, 0 out Hi I just spawned a Tank, where should I go? Do a sweep on the way to the 5’Oclock you are Steel 5 Got ‘em whoo whoo Sweep the Objective Blue 2 Steel 1 move to the 5 O’Clock!

After Action Review Strengths –Leadership/Initiative –Movement –Weapon Skills Challenges –Communication
