Student satisfaction

Our questionnaire is based on the „Student Satisfaction Survey” made by Profesor Lee Harvey. (Centre for Research into Quality; University of Central England in Birmingham).

First version of questionnaire used in 2002 at Jagiellonian University was fair copy of the original questionnaire.

Second version of the questionnaire was radically cut down. It has facilitated the data analysis. There are 24 open questions and 5 closed questions.

Answers to the open questions.

Profits from studying on particular specialization Positive answers: I still like my specialization. Benefits from classes (practical exercises). Negative answer: I gain no profits – there is almost no theoretical nor practical knowledge. Curriculum is archaic, communication between students and professors is bad. The exams verify only encyclopedic knowledge, which I forget after an exam. It doesn`t make sense.

Total curriculum Positive answer: The majority of classes is fascinating, learning is pleasure. I like the wide range of choices. It allows me to widen my interests. Negative answer: Bad program – too many obligatory classes for all specialization. Classes should be divided into specialization. Lectures are boring, they are too long, they do not request any activity from student.

Exams Negative answers: Exams criteria are not clear. We do not know the exact date of the exams at the beginning of semester.

Teaching staff Negative answer: Unfortunately there are not many teachers competent, fascinated in their discipline. How can one be a specialist, teaching few different disciplines? Positive answer: Many nice people who haven`t forgotten that they were students.

Institutional secretariat Negative answer: Secretaries are rude. We cannot settle many matters. There are always queues to secretariat, impolite workers, it seems that we are disturbing them in their work.
