Freedom of Expression BY: ALISSA DAMATO

About Me  19 years old  Art Major- I will most likely concentrate in Sculpture and Crafts  Ai WeiWei is one of my favorite artists and I wanted to incorporate him into my paper.

Ai WeiWei  Artist and activist  He currently resides in China  He is being censored by the Chinese government.  In April 2011 he was arrested for posting information about children who were killed in the Sichuan earthquake. The Chinese government did not want the public to know this information.  Ever since Weiwei was released, he has made it his mission to let the world know about how China is denying its citizens their basic freedom of expression and human rights.

Claim The Chinese government should allow their citizens to have basic human rights and allow freedom of expression.

Supporting ideas and key points for position  Power should not contradict freedom  With Wind  Freedom of expression is a driving factor in modernization.  Chinese government limits the use of the internet.  Present day culture is being lost without freedom of expression.  Many artists and writers are punished for publishing work without government authorization.

Conclusion The Chinese government should not limit their people so harshly that freedom of expression is nonexistent. People should be free to express creative and cultural pride.
