© G. Rott Page 6 R. Sultana provides a summing up definition of career management skills. He defines them as = “a whole range of competencies which provide structured ways for individuals and groups to gather, analyse, synthesise and organise self, educational and occupational information, as well as the skills to make and implement decisions and transitions” (R. Sultana 2009) Input II

© G. Rott Page 7 Developing approaches in educational, social, economic settings Input III The high relevance of personal agency and career management competence based on experience in contexts in family, community education and work contexts put the focus on the very personal and very specific way citizens experience these contexts. This shifts into focus these contexts themselves. What chances do they offer to foster personal agency and career management competence? Do they diminish constructive learning opportunities for sustainable career management competence or do they enhance them? How can career guidance workers and counsellors in cooperative approaches contribute to raise this contextualized quality as an enhancement of their work with the individual client?
