Some quick background “lingo”  Senior survey covers the AY : Aug 2010, Dec 2010 and May 2011 ( the largest cohort)  At WU, students have a “prime” school where they complete their “prime” major Students may select a second major (or minor) in their prime school or in another school  Examples:  ArtSci student, majoring in Economics (prime) with a second major in Finance (in the Olin School of Business)  ArtSci pre-med (e.g., Bio or Chem – prime) student with second major in Economics  BSBA student with a second major in Economics (ArtSci)  Here: “Econ major” = prime + second

Summary of AY Graduates in Economics Aug Dec May 2011 TOTALS A.B. in Econ nd major Econ Minor in General Economics Minor in Applied Microeconomics 33 Minor in Applied Macroeconomics 22 TOTALS In the last academic year, we graduated 120 Economics majors (and 29 minors).

AY Graduates and Senior Survey Responses  AY : 120 Economics majors  85 survey responses, of which 71 were Economics majors ≈ 60% response rate Most were students in the College of Arts & Sciences. Some students, however, pursued a second major in economics, while ‘prime’ in another school

Second majors 120 Majors 71 in survey 66 prime 5 prime in ArtSci other 52 prime 19 prime Economics elsewhere Of these 52 ‘prime’ Economics majors, many had another major, too.

Minors  Of the 71 Economics majors, many also had a minor (or two).

Post-graduation plans for majors  43 of our (71 survey- responding) majors had clear post- graduation plans by the time of graduation
