Different Types of Projectiles

Calculations along the Projectiles Trajectory There are 2 simple problems in one. –Since you need to break down 2D motion into 2 perpendicular motions x (or horizontal) motion y (or vertical) motion For the y motion, its just FREE FALL! y = g

Projectile - dependent on acceleration of gravity, not on horizontal velocity. –Vertical displacement (y) of a projectile –g = -9.8 m/s/s –t = time in seconds –Horizontal motion - not influenced by gravity –Horizontal motion of a projectile is effected by: Speed moving horizontally (v) Time (t) moving horizontally –For the x motion, there is only one equation: x = vt

However, depending on the initial launch of a particular projectile, there are basically 2 different ways to deal with the y (vertical) motion Horizontally launched Projectile Nonhorizontally launched Projectile

y direction- deciding factor Once you have t (the time the projectile is in the air), you plug it into the ONLY x equation to find the range: R = x = vt Lets look at the following projectile more_stuff/Applets/ProjectileMotion/jarapp let.html
