Parking at CAMPUS HIGH Used to be in the middle of nowhere (like Wyoming) so there was space… Eventually, the burbs expanded and other people moved in… Now, all the land surrounding the school has been used for the building or surrounding neighborhoods.

More kids came to the school… Not much room to park… Kids begin parking in surrounding neighborhoods and lots… Conflicts began to arise between students and locals…

School decided to pave a new lot… With lines, the new lot has 850 spaces (incl. Handicapped)… But, there are still between 1000 and 1100 students who drive… Lunch is a huge issue because kids leave and then return to find their spot taken and are late to class (sound familiar?)… Dang, Im gonna be late…

In order to solve the problem, a council was convened to discuss potential parking pass systems. The following four were brought forth by the committee: #1: First Come, First Served #2: Lottery

#3: Merit aND NEED #4: VARIABLE PRICING/AUCTION You read about these proposals and decided that since you are a student, you should have a say so your job (assignment) is to write a letter to the editor of the school newspaper about how to handle the parking situation at Campus High…

Here are the Rules: You may choose any one of the already written proposals, but you are also free to make your own. Your letter should be In M.e.a.l. Paragraph form, and should have at least three arguments supporting your idea. Your letter should include some economic terms like scarcity and opportunity cost since you are econ students. Feel free to be creative, but please be explicit in your rationale. Also, make sure to consider things like Equity, Justice, Freedom, and efficiency. Good luck
