Top 10 Application Tips 1.Avoid creating multiple initial applications or multiple user accounts 2.If you cannot remember the password for your user account, then it is best to contact the call center instead of trying to recover the password by answering the four security questions 3.Always answer “Yes” to the initial question “Do you want help paying for health coverage?”, unless the consumer specifically does not want government assistance of any kind 4.Ensure that you report the appropriate income amounts. Total income on taxes (ex. line 37b on 1040) represents the household’s AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) which may not necessarily be the same as the household’s MAGI When calculating MAGI, be sure to include nontaxable income such as monthly Social Security income, including Disability (SSDI). Remember not to include Social Security Income (SSI), inheritance, worker’s compensation, child support etc.

Top 10 Application Tips 5.Answer the Medicaid determining question correctly: “Will your household income this month be greater than $_______?” The figure stated is the Medicaid cutoff for that household size and income according to Federal Poverty Level. 6.If you do not understand why an individual is or is not eligible for Medicaid based on their annual income, double check the current month income and deductions 7.If an APTC determination seems too high/too low, then double check the annual income for the current plan year against FPL thresholds 8. In most cases, if an applicant’s income will definitely below 400% FPL, then it is better to slightly overestimate the annual income then to underestimat e

Top 10 Application Tips 9. Carefully select the correct plan and proceed past the eligibility determination screen to complete the application and enroll in coverage. 10. Please remember that a change will not be reported unless the entire process of reporting of a change is completed and at least the eligibility determination screen has been reached.
