Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location

Several different prepositional phrases can be used to talk about the location of people, things, events, etc.

Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location zRemember: de + el =del zAlso remember that the verb ESTAR is used to talk about location.

Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location Cerca de = near La librería está cerca de la panadería. The book store is near the bread store. La pastelería está cerca del centro comercial. The bakery is near the mall.

Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location Detrás de = behind La motocicleta está detrás del autobús. The scooter is behind the bus.

Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location Delante de = in front of El tren está delante de la estación de tren. The train is in front of the train station.

Prepositional Phrases to Talk about Location Al lado de = beside El correo está al lado de la zapatería. The post office is beside the shoe store.
