Welcome Most Argentines have European ancestors. They think of themselves as being more European than South American. For hundreds of years, the country was controlled by Spain. Spanish is still the official language. In late 1800s, many Italians come to Argentina looking for construction work. Many of Argentina’s artists and writers have lived in difficult times. Those who fought for independence from Spain were treated badly. They were threatened by the military ruled Argentina during a time called The Dirty War. Thousands of people who were against the military disappeared during The Dirty War. Many were woman and children.

It is part of ‘’tail’’ of South America. Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina. It’s name means ‘’good wings’’. It is located on the banks of the Rio de la Plata. The Iguazu Falls are located on the border of Brazil and Argentina. Two hundred seventy five different waterfalls make up falls. The Iguazu are taller than falls. The Iguazu falls are taller than Niagara falls and four times as wide. Mar del Plata is a popular sea side resort and The Atlantic coast of east central Argentina. The highest peak in Americas is found in Argentina in the Andes Mountains. Mount Aconcagua is 22,831 feet ( 6,969 m ) high. The Republic of Argentina has a constitution similar to that of the U.S.A. The president leads the government. He is helped by a council ministers. Like U.S.A, Argentina also has a national congress that passes new laws.

Government the presidents house The first president of Argentina was Cornelio Savedra. Cornelio Savedra was born on September the 15 of 1759 and died on March the 29 of The last president since 2007 is Cristina Fernandez Kirchner. The Argentine republic has 23 provinces and 1 federal district (Buenos Aires). The executive branch consists of a president, vice president, and a cabinet. The president (currently Cristina Fernandez Kirchner) is both head of state and head of government. Vice president Amando Boudou temporarily took over executive powers during January 2012 while Kirchner was treated for suspected cancer. The National Congress has 2 houses: a 72-seat senate and a 257-seat chamber of deputes. The type of government in Argentina is Republic and every one is happy for the president and government.

History/Culture The most popular food in Argentina is pasta, pizza, empanadas, and mate. The language in Argentina is Spanish. Usually the holidays are in December, January, and February. A long time ago they dressed like Gauchos. Gauchos dress are a cowboy hat a shirt and big pants. Before the Spanish began to colonize Argentina in the 1500s, the area was populated by in digamous groups, some of whom belonged to the Incan Empire. However, most groups, were nomadic or auto nomads.

Economics Natural Resources and Products Primary Industry Argentina is rich in natural resources with a geological and climatic situation particularly suitable for developing forestry, agriculture, mining and fisheries. It also boasts of large petroleum, gas and uranium reserves. Agriculture: Argentina is famous for its agricultural production. With over 54 million head of cattle, Argentina’s beef is renowned around the world. Annual production of cereals and oilseeds exceeds 70 million tonnes, which makes Argentina one of the main exporters of these products and their derivatives. One of the country's largest sheep grazing regions, which is also one of the largest regions for growing fruit and vegetables, is found in Patagonia, in the south. The typical farms associated with this production are surprisingly similar to those found in Australia. to the world market. Together with mining products they make out for 15% of total exports.

Flag Argentina's flag is a light blue and white trainband with a yellow "Sun of May" in the center. The flag is twice as wide as it is tall. This flag was adopted on February 12, 1812, four years before Argentina declared independence from Spain (1816). The "Sun of May" design was added to the flag in The blue and white colors were chosen by Manuel Belgrano, the leader of the Argentinine revolution against Spain, and represent the blue sky parting to reveal white clouds, as is said to have happened when the Liberation demonstration began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 25, Argentina's Flag Day is celebrated on 20th June, the anniversary of Belgrano's death.

Fun Facts In Argentina there is a fun thing to play here its called soccer but in Argentina its called football. In Argentina football is really only for boys. From the Gauchos, Argentines have developed a love of horses. Many of their sports involve riding horses. Horseback riding is very popular, especially among the descendants of the original Gauchos. Rodeos are popular. There skilled riders participate in competitions. Show jumping is another exiting event. Polo, brought to Argentina by British immigrants, is also popular horse sport. In fact, Argentina has some of the best players and ponies in the world. Players riding ponies try to move a wooden ball across a field and into the goal. They use mallets to hit the ball. There are 4 players on each team. The six plat periods that called cukkees. Fact file Argentina money is called peso. Every peso equals 100 cents, centavos. There’s only 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos bills. On October pesos equals one US dollar. The seasons of Argentina one opposite of U.S.A. There are a lot of words in Argentina that some are really easy to say like ‘’si’’ it means ‘’ yes’’ and there are a lot of words that are really difficult like ‘’geografia’’ it means ‘’geography’’.
