St. Augustine WebQuest Introduction The Task It is your task to research and uncover clues about the mysterious city of St. Augustine. You are to use all types of media resources. You may use books, encyclopedias, the internet, and other references that you may have in your classroom, at home, or in the school Media Center. Please read your task carefully. The Task You are going to use reference material and internet sites to discover the answers to many of the following questions. Please glue these questions to a sheet of writing paper, using a new page for each section. Leave space to answer questions, take notes, and add any additional information you learn on your search.

Write at least three facts about the city of St. Augustine: Page 1 Where is St. Augustine? On the map below, mark the spot where St. Augustine is located on a Florida map. Write at least three facts about the city of St. Augustine:

Write three additional facts about the fort. Page 2 What is the name of the fort in St. Augustine that is shown in the image below? When you have figured it out, try to fill in the blanks below: "Spain founded the city of St. Augustine in ________ (year). This fort helped defend against hostile powers that preyed on Spanish treasure fleets returning from Peru and Mexico. In defense, Spain built the fort named________________. Its distinctive omnidirectional bastions successfully helped repel attacks from land and sea." Write three additional facts about the fort.

Be prepared to share your facts in class. Page 5 Now it is your turn to do research on St. Augustine. Write at least ten interesting facts about St. Augustine that are historic facts (not opinions). Use the websites, encyclopedia, and books to help you. Be prepared to share your facts in class.

The Task Your task will be to gather the answers to the questions above. You will cut out the questions and glue them onto a writing paper. (Look at examplar on board.) This part of the project is due before vacation. When your Webquest is complete, you will process and transform the information you've gathered into a PowerPoint presentation. As you research the websites on the internet, use the links that are on my webpage. If you need more information, you may use the text, magazines, & reference materials in the library. Please be sure to copy this information carefully.

Evaluation The chart below explains how you will be given points and a grade for the first part of this project. This is due before Christmas break.
