Audacity basics: Starting a new project: Open Audacity and save your project to a new folder in your area If you make a copy of the audio file before editing, it will copy the whole file into your project. If you read directly from the original file, it will draw a ‘picture’ of it and play unchanged parts of the file straight from the original sound file. So if you lose it, your in trouble!
