Questions Jesus Asked

LUKE 6:27-36 (NIV) “IF YOU LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU, WHAT CREDIT IS THAT TO YOU?” Luke 6:27-36 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

LUKE 6:27-36 (NIV) “IF YOU LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU, WHAT CREDIT IS THAT TO YOU?” Luke 6:27-36 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?

LUKE 6:27-36 (NIV) “IF YOU LOVE THOSE WHO LOVE YOU, WHAT CREDIT IS THAT TO YOU?” Luke 6:27-36 Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

1. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LOVE THEIR ENEMIES (vv. 27-28, 32-35) Luke 6:27-28 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

1. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LOVE THEIR ENEMIES (vv. 27-28, 32-35) Romans 12:17-21 (NIV) 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

1. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LOVE THEIR ENEMIES (vv. 27-28, 32-35) “DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO HATE YOU” (V. 27). 2. “BLESS THOSE WHO CURSE YOU (V. 28). 3. “PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MISTREAT YOU.”

1. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LOVE THEIR ENEMIES (vv. 27-28, 32-35) Luke 6:32-34 “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.”

1. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LOVE THEIR ENEMIES (vv. 27-28, 32-35) 1 Peter 2:20-21 “For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:”

2. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO REFRAIN FROM RETALIATION (vv. 29-30) Luke 6:29-30 “To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.”

3. CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE TO LIVE BY THE GOLDEN RULE (v.31) 4. TRUE DISCIPLES ARE TO BE MERCIFUL (v. 36)
