Group B: AAAH’s country level activities

Major goals Enable the countries to develop, implement and review periodically a HRH strategy that leads to desirable health outcomes Foster regional cooperation, collaboration and harmonization of selection, recruitment, training and development of HRH

Action I: Review and advocate for HRH at regional and country levels Review salutations and trends of health systems related HRH in the member countries Advocacy of mobilization of political support, resources and partnerships Development of guidelines for HRH plan for countries to assess their level of progress in the area

Action II: Knowledge generation, management and sharing Software for establishing HRH systems Regional statistics on HRH Critical review of selection and recruitment policy for HRH in the region with a view to identify which policies yield committed Health workforce (Myanmar and all) Support research in HRH related areas: Multiskilling of nurses (Fiji), General situation of HRH, HRH for priority health issues and problems (PNG, Cambodia), HRH attrition and deployment patterns (Myanmar), HRH analysis and needs assesment (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal), HRH: optimum skill mix (Thailand), HRH distribution, Information management (Philippines), HRH mapping (Indonesia), Evaluation of effectiveness of existing HRH plan, Methodology of good practice generation (China),

Action III: Information clearing house for HRH monitoring Add: Information on core indicators and tools for monitoring of HRH plan Integrating of information on HRH into regular health information system

Action IV: Capacity building for HRH management Add: Support in the establishment of HRH units in countries where these don’t exist Standardization of core competences of health professionals and accreditation of courses Create leadership development awareness (resource materials, resource persons) Develop common core curricula for HRH managment

Action V: Coordination of technical support as requested by member countries Assistance and coordination of technical support and resource mobilization for examples: list of experts, sources of funding, help with writing proposals
