What skills are needed to be successful in college, career and life? 1.Decide what you want your company to do. Technology, Health Care, Food Service… 2.Create a name for your company. 3.What should your customers expect from your product or service? List three. 4.Decide how you want your company to be ranked against your competitors? Select from a scale of 1 to 100 (1 being highest) 5.Come up with a profile of the type of employee you want to recruit: List six. Imagine you are starting your own company… Remember you and your employees will interact with other industry professionals and vendors.

Objectives: As a result of this presentation I will be able to answer these questions…  What is the Employability Assessment?  Why is the Employability Assessment Important?  What exactly are Employability Skills, Technical Skills, and Academic Skills?  What are my Employability Assessment scores?  What is my plan for improvement between now and the next Employability Assessment? 3

Personal-behavior skills that help you succeed in school or on a job. These skills help you unlock what you have learned in school to solve real world problems. These skills help you get a job and move up a career ladder. What are 21 st century employability skills? Employability skills often referred to as soft skills, behavioral skills, and 21 st century skills.

What is the Employability Assessment?

Let’s Discuss Some Important Terms  What do you think “Employability Skills” are?  What is your definition of “Technical Skills”?  And finally, what are “Academic Skills”?

What are the Employability Assessment Goals? To make the definition of Employability Skills concise, concrete and transparent to all teachers, counselors, students, employers and parents To allow a teacher/instructor to record performance on non-cognitive skills that drive classroom behavior and college and career readiness To use the teacher’s observations to verify behavior… does the student consistently exhibit the skills over a course of time?

Make A Employability Assessment Resolution/Plan! Choose 3 skills from the Employability Assessment where you would like to improve or maintain your scores. Create a plan with 2-3 specific actions that you will take for each of the three skills and write them down. I will give your plan back to you before the next Employability Assessment in March so that we can discuss your progress.

Readiness is where skills meet opportunity High School Readiness means that when you go from elementary to high school, you can be successful and take on new challenges. College Readiness means that when you go to college or a training program, you can channel your strengths to fly even higher. Career Readiness means that when enter a career path, you can be successful and make a difference in your life, family and community.
