Liquid-Vapor Equilibrium HL

Vapor Pressure Vapor pressure- the pressure of the vapor as a result of evaporation in a closed container

Vapor Pressure High VP = eq shifts right Low VP = eq shifts left

Vapor Pressure Equilibrium will be reached quicker when surface area is increased, but the equilibrium position will not change and VP remains the same.

Vapor Pressure

(This increases VP and Keq as well!) Important!

Vapor Pressure External pressure = atmospheric pressure Very important!!!

Vapor Pressure

high vapor pressure and low bp = volatile

Vapor Pressure

The higher the temperature and the weaker the imf’s, the higher the vapor pressure

Example 1

Example 2
