Roles 2

Objectives Educate students in current affairs to prevent a drastic change in secondary school Allow them to know what is going on around them at a younger age Help them build a habit of being interested in current affairs so they will possess knowledge not all others do to help them gain an added advantage Through the webpage we will create 3

Focuses Singapore current affairs * Different difficulty for a different level - Regional affairs and a broader range of topics * Other current affairs from other countries have also been added in at the request of the students to further enhance their learning 4

Target Audience Mainly Upper Primary students Age group of Ai Tong Primary Another separate primary school  -To ensure the reliability of our results and usefulness of our package 5

Rationale A survey was conducted before and statistics show that teenagers in Singapore do agree with this hypothesis and we feel that this project would be perfect to help them in this 6

Methodology Our plan of action first started off with ensuring our project was feasible and necessary through surveys We will refine our project around the experiences we gain from conducting the lessons first hand A variety of resources will be created by us to ensure that the students will be able to learn in the way they most prefer it in our webpage Students will provide us with feedback in which we can use to further perfect our package 7

Statistics collected 8

Statistics after alterations Shows clearly the effect of teaching the students the way they want to be taught 9

Statistics collected Clear that most prefer online materials Proceed in the area of their interest More fun for them to understand these online 10

Timeline 11

Timeline-Finals We have produced a website and a wiki as resources for the students; which is also our end product Went to primary schools 4 times up to date to conduct our lessons Topics we have used during our lessons have also been put online to allow for the students to reuse these resources 12

Resources 13

Resources Quizzes we created were used to test the students’ understanding and test effectiveness of our project The stories are made to aid understanding and build interest 14

Reflections-Keng Soon “From the start of the project till now, I have faced trouble in trying to cope with work and this project at the same time. But my group mates have been especially great in helping to share the load and ensure that everyone plays their part and influences how our project will turn out” 17

Reflections-Darryl “From the start, I was not sure how to proceed on this project as I haven’t done one of this sort before. Furthermore, I also faced difficulty in persuading Ai Tong Primary School to allow us to go and conduct our preliminary survey. But eventually I got the hang of it and ensured that our plans could push through.” 18

Reflections-Jared “So far, I feel that our group is on the right track and proceeding very well according to our plans. Even though I have been very busy with competitions going on, I still feel that all of us have given equal effort in this project. Time was not on my side but I know that after the competitions, I can help my group more” 19

Group Reflections Even though it is only the preliminary round, our group has gained many habits of mind through our project. Communicating with clarity and precision Questioning and problem posing Thinking flexibly 20
