Formally named TRF First grant awarded - $500 to International Society for Crippled children Death of Paul Harris. Fund received more than $1 million in his memory. Used to fund first Foundation programme for 18 Ambassadorial Scholars

The Rotary Foundation -TRF The Only Charity in the World that - ASKS YOU FOR MONEY INCREASES THAT BY INVESTMENTS THEN ASKS YOU HOW TO SPEND THE FUNDS
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Is Rotary’s only Charity and is funded by donations from clubs, Rotarians and individuals, either during their lifetime or by bequests
How does TRF work? Relies on the enthusiastic support of Rotarians voluntarily giving of their time and money
Who does TRF belong to? Every Rotarian whether he or she has made a contribution or not
WHO SPENDS IT? You do! Each district currently receives back 50 % of the giving which they made 3 years ago (Called the DDF funds)
Why DDF currently 50% ? The other 50% (The World Fund) is to pay for some other district programmes costs such as:- GSE team The “other” half of a “Matched” Grant & District Simplified grants - etc

So What does DDF DO? It allows us all to undertake bigger and well controlled projects to meet the NEEDS of those we care to SERVE It has allowed, and continues to allow us to be personally involved in building a Better World working with clubs Internationally
The Rotary Foundation You share in the spending decision making: Your contributions are used for programmes THREE years after they were received by the Rotary Foundation Three year cycle allows the Foundation to invest your contribution to pay for all administration, programme operations, and fund development costs Three year cycle gives Districts time for planning and selection for the District’s choice of programme awards

Anyone who informs the Foundation in writing that they have made provision in their will or estate naming the Foundation’s Permanent fund as a beneficiary.
Anyone who Bequests to The Foundation a sum of £7,000 or more in their estate
