Presentation transcript:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,,

was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Must Jesus bear the cross alone And all the world go free No there’s a cross for ev’ry one And there’s a cross for me

The consecrated cross I’ll bear Till death set me free And then go home my crown to wear For there’s a crown for me

Upon the crystal pavement down At Jesus’ pierced feet Joyful I’ll cast my golden crown And His dear name repeat

The Order For the Holy Communion Christ our Lord invites to His table all who love Him Who earnestly repent of their sin And seek to live in peace with one another Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another

Merciful God, We confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have not loved You with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We not heard the cry of the needy.

We repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, for the sake of Your son Jesus Christ, forgive us, we pray, Forgive our past, strengthen our present, guide our future, to love and to obey You in newness of Life through Christ our Lord. Amen

Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! Glory to God. AMEN.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING The Lord be with You. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to You, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

And also, with Your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise Your name and join their unending hymn: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Holy are You, and blessed is Your son Jesus Christ. By the baptism of His suffering, death and resurrection You gave birth to Your church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.

On the night in which He gave himself up for us He took bread, gave thanks to You, broke the bread, gave it to His disciples, and said: “Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

When the supper was over, He took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to His disciples, and said: “Drink from this, all of you; this is My blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

And so, in remembrance of these Your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice. In union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ had died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ redeemed by His blood. By Your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other and one in ministry to all the world. Until Christ comes in final victory, and we feast at His heavenly banquet.

Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in Your holy church, all honour and glory is Yours, almighty Father, now and forever. AMEN. And now, with the confidence of children of God, let us pray:

The Lords Prayer Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.

19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the L ORD. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins. 20 If you forsake the L ORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”

21 But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the L ORD.” 22 Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the L ORD.” “Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.

23 “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the L ORD, the God of Israel.” 24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the L ORD our God and obey him.”

25 On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people, and there at Shechem he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws. 26 And Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak near the holy place of the L ORD.

27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the L ORD has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue to your God.” 28 Then Joshua dismissed the people, each to their own inheritance.

 Reality check- they are not able to keep their promise.  They must renew and take sole responsibility of their decision.  They must put away any idols among them and incline their hearts to God.  They stood before God and Joshua to make promise.

 Empowering is the attempt to establish power in another person. (Owning the power)  Empowering is the active, intentional process of enabling another person to acquire power through encouragement.  Empowering is the process of helping another to recognize strengths and potentials within, development of inner qualities, even dreams.  When in the process of empowering, empowerer may need to step back, and to allow the empowered to learn by doing and not by depending on them.  Empowering is the action of God in people’s lives.

 Our triune God  We communicate with each other through language  Intimacy is a deliberate choice  Adam and Eve were completely oppen and transparent before God.  Shame is born out of the fear of being known intimately.  To become know and to know others require us to exert effort in terms of listening, understanding and wanting the best for the other. Goal: accept differences and respect uniqueness

 To be known and to know we need to nurture this intimacy by giving up something of our own needs and desires.  Result of intimacy: we become fearless, bold and courageous, ask for forgiveness and reconciliation. (goal)  Leading and growing as a family
