CollegeBoard AP The AP ® Program

What is the difference between Advanced Placement ® and other college–prep or honors courses ? Designed by teams of college professors (from Harvard, Princeton, Yale, UCLA etc) in collaboration with expert secondary school teachers. The exams are designed and graded by teams of University Professors and High School Teachers. Thus, you are compared to university students, verifying your mastery of the same level of curriculum.

For Students: The Benefits of AP Prepare for success in college by taking college-level courses while still in high school –Explore advanced topics—study in greater depth –Develop advanced skills—form disciplined study habits –Build confidence in capability to succeed in college Opportunity to earn awards, scholarships, and improve chances of college admission Opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement –Possible tuition $$$ savings –Appropriate placement in college courses –Flexibility to pursue double major, combined B.A./M.A. programs, study abroad options

Students Who Participate Outperform their peers when placed into advanced courses Are more likely to take advanced courses in their AP subject areas Are more likely to choose challenging majors Are more likely to graduate with a double major Are twice as likely to go into advanced study

Students who take AP courses and exams are much more likely than their peers to complete a bachelor’s degree in four years or less. Did you know that if you earn a high school diploma you’re likely to earn $9,000 more annually than students who don’t complete high school? But, if you earn a bachelor’s degree you’re likely to earn $20,000 more annually.

Each AP Exam contains: –Multiple-choice questions –Free-response (essay, problem-solving, oral response) questions, scored by 6,500+ college faculty and AP teachers at the summer AP Reading –These worldwide assessments are administered by schools on set dates each May
