As soon as Winter Forward! was printed and sent out, the MG Saloon Day venue for 2010 informed us of a slight problem. As a result, I was whisked away to see a number of new possible venues for MG Saloon Day. A slight detour to pickup Midlands’ rep Mandy, I was soon at the first venue of the day, which looked very promising (we are likely to use it in a couple of years time). After a quick refreshment for both me and my passengers, I was on my way to the second venue visit of the day (which we have booked for this year’s event). Stopping around the corner for another refreshment break, I was soon heading home to London, after dropping Mandy back home. So, 350 miles later, I was done for the day. I was also offered my services, of delivering a mk1 Metro to Birmingham. Due to a slight problem with the trailer, I completed the delivery in a 400 mile roundish daytrip. As you will have seen in this issue of Forward! I have been to a number of shows around the country. So far this year I have been to five shows, and am expecting to see a fair few more before the year is out. 30 K125CAC My owner was asked if he was interested in taking part in a radio show about the reputation of the Montego. It involved having Quentin Wilson being interviewed in the back of me while driving around London. As a result, I was quickly worked on to try and resolve some of my running and body problems. I had new plugs, leads, rotor arm, distributor cap, air filter, exhaust manifold and manifold gasket. I also had my headlining temporarily fixed. I will still require having the brain and throttle body reset properly before too long, as I am still not right. I have since been on holiday down in Somerset, where I broke my leg (circlip on the driveshaft broke, leaving the car with no wheel drive). So, I will have to have that fixed properly once my owner has sourced the correct part, along with a new set of brake pads. In the meantime, my owner has had to help fix the friend’s MG Maestro. It required new rear shocks and currently has a broken down pipe on the exhaust, so that needs investigating and fixing. So I am sure you will hear about that next time. Hope to see you all at MG Saloon Day in July. Please place a show flyer, enclosed with this newsletter, on any MGs you see. Thank you. Latest news from the Chairman’s MG.
