Blake l’s Unit 5 Vocab By: Blake L.

How many degrees in a triangle? There is always exactly 180 degrees in a triangle.

How many degrees in a straight line? In a straight line there is always 180 degrees in a strait line. 180 Degrees

How many degrees in a quadrangle? There is 360 degrees in a quadrangle.

What’s the sum of all angles that share a side? The sum of all the angles that share a side is 240.

An acute angle is an angle that is 60 degrees or more than 0 degrees.

Adjacent Angle Two angles are adjacent if they have a common side and a common vertex (corner point) and don't overlap.

Axis The vertical and horizontal lines that make up the quadrants of a coordinate plane. The vertical axis is usually referred to as the y axis and the horizontal axis is usually referred to as the x axis.

To divide into two equal parts. Bisect To divide into two equal parts.

Concentric Circles Concentric objects share the same center, axis or origin with one inside the other.

Congruent If one shape can become another using Turns, Flips and/or Slides, then the two shapes are called Congruent.

Consecutive Angles The pairs of angles on one side of the transversal but inside the two lines are called Consecutive Angles

The angles in matching corners are called Corresponding Angles.

The figure that results from some transformation of a figure. Image The figure that results from some transformation of a figure.

Transformation Translation Reflection Dilation Rotation Point Reflection Dilation Rotation

The line that is reflected over in a reflection. Line of reflection The line that is reflected over in a reflection.

Midpoint The exact middle point.

An Obtuse Angle is more than 90° but less than 180°.

Parallel Lines Two lines on a plane that never meet. They are always the same distance apart.

Perpendicular In geometry, two lines or planes (or a line and a plane), are considered perpendicular.
