The certification period expires. The client receives fewer benefits with the recert. If he asks for a hearing, is he entitled to continuing benefits? Why?

No. When a certification period ends, it ends. FS benefits never continue beyond the end of a cert period. This is explained in the approval notice.

Mom receives SSB for her child. The child lives with Grandma, who is applying for FS. How do you determine the amount of SSB to count?

Ask grandma if mom is giving her any money, paying any of the child’s bills, buying clothes, etc. Ask mom the same. Count income given to or spent on the child’s household.

Amy, 63, paid an unanticipated medical bill with her credit card and is now paying Visa $33/month. When/how can she claim the cost toward her MED?

Allow the total cost divided over the balance of the cert period after she reports and verifies it. This is considered paid in full and cannot be carried over.

Before you can deny an application for failure to complete an interview, what two things must you document?

A scheduled date and time for the interview (on the application and in narrative). Sending a NOMI following the missed interview.
