Ed-D 420 Inclusion of Exceptional Learners

Think Pair Share Sternberg ~ who was at this conference in Manila and is a giant in the field of intelligence testing and assessment ~ suggested this and I am curious about what your thougths are on it. Differentiated instruction is not a meaningful pursuit as it has practical issues (can it really be done in the classroom) and philosophical ones. What is better is to teach thru multiple modalities ~ not learning styles ~ as then weaknesses are not covered up or ignored. The world does not adjust delivery for your weaknesses and students must learn to recognize and accentuate their strengths.

Sample Questions and group explore Sample Question: How would you go about establishing a classroom community in one of your classes? Prepare a priority list of things you might do prior to classes beginning, on the first class and during the first few weeks. How might you use the ADAPT strategy to analyze and adapt assessment? Why is it not enough to simply differentiate instruction without adapting assessment? Small Groups How would you approach preparing for this area? What is important within it How might you apply this to your own teaching? Relevance? What question do you have of or for me?
