Your Poster Title Here (Use Large Font between72 and 96Pt) Your name here, (middle author is the grad student(s) you worked with, last author is Dr. X [with whom you did the research] Bioenvironmental Sciences, Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Texas A&M University Abstract (section titles should be 40-48 pt) Results Introduction and Objectives References Methods Insert your abstract here. An abstract is a brief summary of your project and findings. Total word count should be no more 250-300 words. Text here and throughout the poster should be 20-30 pt. Keep in mind that readers will be viewing this poster from a distance. The section layout shown in this template is flexible. Move and resize each as is necessary for you to convey your project. Use color, graphics and layout and most importantly your judgment to make the poster attractive as well as informative. It is not suggested you move the order of the section headings though. Additional detailed instructions about effective research posters are available from the Texas A&M writing center. http://writingcenter.tamu.edu/Students/Writing-Speaking-Guides/Alphabetical-List-of-Guides/Academic-Writing/Research-Posters Briefly describe here why your research was conducted. What outstanding problems (research gaps) did the research address? What were your objectives in undertaking the research project? Be sure to cite papers that were foundational to your research project. This section often contains a hypothesis statement which clearly presents the hypothesis being tested in this research project. Briefly describe the procedures and methods used in your research and which are necessary for understanding and interpreting your findings. Briefly describe your findings. Use figures with figure legends when possible. Figures can be photographs, graphs, charts, tables etc. If there is not enough space here, the “Results” section can be moved to the right hand side of the poster and “Conclusions” can be moved lower to make room. The Results section will likely be the longest section of the poster and will likely occupy portions of both columns Give full citation for journal articles or other resource you utilized in conducting your research. This can be methods you used from a previously conducted study or previous research results you built upon with your research. Be sure to include in-text citations where appropriate throughout the poster. Be sure you are using a consistent format for all references (Template Revised Spring 2018) Poster is meant to be flexible with defined/standardized sections. Posters are standardized to 36X36 inches for the symposium. Additional recommendations and required information are indicated within the template. Feel free to change the background colors and or design of the headers as you would like. The idea is to simply use the template to organize your presentation. Each section can be whatever length you find appropriate to fully describe your project. This area will likely be a continuation of your results Conclusion List in short bullet point format what the take home message(s) is from your project. If you want the reader to remember one (or 2 or 3) things about your project, what is it? Acknowledgements This is where you thank anyone who helped you conduct your research who is not listed as an author at the top of the poster. This might be someone who provided technical help or who advised or mentored you. It is also important to thank the source of your funding. Thanking people of a personal nature (e.g. your spouse or parents is not appropriate on a poster). { Please be sure to include the following sentence verbatim at the end of your acknowledgements} Sponsors for high impact experiences for BESC and the BESC poster symposium include the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology,  the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
