Tech for Education Teacher Notes Before delivering Tech for Education please make sure you have: - Watched the short video tutorial found at: https://www.techshecan.org/tech-for-education/ - Downloaded and read the Tech for Education plan - found on the website to the right of the video tutorial - Loaded Jig Space, Froggepedia and Chatterpix onto your tablets and had a go at using the apps yourself - A mirroring device will really help you when demonstrating the apps to the students - this can be a cable or something like an Apple TV - Created a Flip Grid teacher account and made 2 grids for the students to access – one for their introductory videos and one for their homework – a 5 min tutorial can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn0AwFgRnPw - Create a list of tech workers for the students to research or use the examples on the slide Resources needed for Tech for Education: - Tablets - Access to the internet either through the tablets or laptops/desktops - individually or small groups. - Printouts of homework sheets (with FlipGrid code added).

Tech for Education To understand how technology is used for education and broaden my knowledge of careers available in this field.

Examples that show how technology is used for education 1 How is technology shaping the way teachers teach and children learn? 2 How has technology changed whilst you have been at school?

Careers in tech for Education Education Software Developer Computing/Design and Technology Teacher Average salaries approx = £20,000 - £30,000

Meet today’s role model Becky, Teacher Tech We Can

Using augmented reality to learn – Jig Space How could the JigSpace app be used to help students learn? What other jigs do you think would be really useful for the creators to design next?

Using tech to create interactive content for learning Froggepedia What other learning experiences could be created as an app to make it easier for teacher to deliver and students to experience? Why do you think this app is an example of using tech for good? Why do you think PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) recommend this app?

Chatterpix Kids Your Task: You are going to be given the name of a person working in technology. Your task is to create a Chatterpix of that person talking about themselves and their career. To do this you will need to: Research the person Write a script in the first person Take a picture of the person (from screen to screen) Record your Chatterpix.

Could you imagine if your teacher was a hologram? Debate time: What do you think the pros and cons of having a holographic teacher would be?

Learn how to use Flipgrid Your task: Create your selfie Complete a FlipGrid message on our Introduction Board. Use the code: to use Flipgrid

Class Discussion What kinds of technology will teachers and students be using to aid learning in the future? What technology would you like to see invented for use in the classroom? Can you see yourself working in any tech for education careers? Would you like to design and create the education technology of the future? Did anything particularly interest you today?

Please complete the Google form for today’s lesson.

Homework Use Flipgrid to create a video about an inspirational person in tech – current or historical Ensure your Flipgrid has annotations and links to relevant videos/information We’ll look at each other’s Flipgrid in the next lesson
