Case for small group discussion Calcaneal fracture Case for small group discussion AOTrauma—Foot & Ankle Module 2a: Hindfoot trauma—calcaneal fractures Stefan Rammelt, DE

Case description 76-year-old woman 3 days after injury

IOL: Talarcalcaneal interosseous ligament

Postoperative images

Functional result at 3 years

Take-home messages Percutaneous fixation for simple fractures, critical soft-tissue conditions Minimal operative soft-tissue morbidity Anatomical joint reduction with arthroscopic control (Sanders Type II A+B) or 3-D fluoroscopy Restoration of hindfoot shape Surgery within 7 days Excellent results with proper patient selection
