Confession & Forgiveness Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, who forgives all our sin, whose mercy endures forever. Amen. Seeking reconciliation with God and neighbor, let us remember the gift of baptism and confess our sin. Silence is kept for reflection. Confession & Forgiveness God of mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you, against one another, and against the earth entrusted to our care. We are worried and distracted by many things, and we fail to love you above all else. We store up treasures for ourselves and turn away from our neighbors in need. Forgive us, that we may live in the freedom of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Stories of the Passion of Christ of the Resurrection by Giotto (14th c.). Scrovegni Chapel, Padua, Italy. Fresco. Kyrie – ELW p. 203 Please join in singing: Have mercy on us, Lord, and hear our solemn prayer. We come to hear your living word; it saves us from despair. Have mercy on us, Christ, and wash away our sin. Pour out your grace and make us whole that new life may begin. Have mercy on us, Lord, make sin and shame depart. Renew us with your saving pow’r; create in us new hearts! Stories of the Passion of Christ of the Resurrection by Giotto (14th c.). Scrovegni Chapel, Padua, Italy. Fresco. Confession & Forgiveness When we were laid low by sin and guilt, God made us alive together with Christ, forgiving us ☩ all our trespasses by taking our sins to the cross. For freedom Christ has set us free: brothers and sisters, your sins are forgiven, rejoice in this good news! Amen. Stories of the Passion of Christ of the Resurrection by Giotto (14th c.). Communion - Preface It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with all the choirs of angels, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Stories of the Passion of Christ of the Resurrection by Giotto (14th c.). Scrovegni Chapel, Padua, Italy. Fresco. Copyright © Photoservice Electa/Universal Images Group/SuperStock. Used by permission.

Communion You are indeed holy, almighty and merciful God. You are most holy, and great is the majesty of your glory. You so loved the world that you gave your only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life. We give you thanks for his coming into the world to fulfill for us your holy will and to accomplish all things for our salvation. Communion In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Communion For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Please join in singing (ELW p. 207)... Christ has died. Christ is risen. Communion Remembering, therefore, his salutary command, his life-giving passion and death, his glorious resurrection and ascension, and the promise of his coming again, we give thanks to you, O Lord God Almighty, not as we ought but as we are able; we ask you mercifully to accept our praise and thanksgiving and with your Word and Holy Spirit to bless us, your servants, and these your own gifts of bread and wine... Communion ...so that we and all who share in the body and blood of Christ may be filled with heavenly blessing and grace, and, receiving the forgiveness of sin, may be formed to live as your holy people and be given our inheritance with all your saints. To you, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory in your holy church, now and forever. Please join in singing (ELW p. 207)... Amen, amen, amen. Communion Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
