Summary of solved Technical Comments Waste management Item  Theme Technical comment # Technical comment subject 1.         Waste Management CIRNAC-TRC#4 Conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the water quality impacts associated with 1% contamination of WRSF cover Specify the date at which the facility is predicted to reach field capacity. 2.         ECCC-TC19 Provide details and rationale for selection of climate change modeling scenario.   Provide details regarding how the projections of future climate change were used to inform closure and post-closure phase. 3.         KivIA-Aquatic-TC#2 Provide baseline data at the alternative discharge locations Clarify text in the FEIS addendum indicating the bioavailability of phosphorus Updated the water quality model to address concerns with phosphorus concentrations Clarification made that description of a clean waste rock storage facility (WRSF) cover does not mean it is free of arsenic, but rather it will leach low levels of arsenic that do not exceed regulatory criteria. The water quality model assumed the thermal cover is built with south greywacke and diorite material (waste rock). The cut‐off value of 75 mg/kg arsenic was selected as a conservative cut‐off.  Inputs to the FEIS water quality predictions related to the thermal cover and mine infrastructure adequately assessed water quality impacts and no additional sensitivity analysis are required. To date there has not been any seepage from Meadowbank WRSFs and therefore Agnico Eagle is not using seepage results as they do not exist. The lack of seepage at Meadowbank is as expected and this has been supported by on-going work as part of the NWB Water Licence application (Attachment A to Technical Comments responses).  Climate change was not modelled for the operational phase of the Expansion Project due to the short timeframe (3 years) of the project. Climate change is considered for closure and post-closure through its influence on performance of the waste rock storage facility cover systems.  RCP 6.0 for the waste rock storage facility covers was used to conservatively assess risk for the project. When evaluating risk, both consequence and likelihood need to be considered. The use of RCP 8.5 would not result in a better appreciation of risk than the current evaluation for the project At this time Agnico Eagle believes it has evaluated the most significant long-term risk for the project Agnico Eagle | WHALE TAIL PIT EXPANSION PROJECT NIRB TECHNICAL MEETING – JUNE 11-13 2019
