Surgery Center Students train under the direct supervision of the nursing staff to clean and making beds, stocking blanket warmers, rolling gowns for patient care bags, cleaning pod areas after the patient leaves.

Surgical Support Students work as part of a team cleaning operating rooms after surgery. They learn to clean the bed and equipment, sweep and mop the floor, and pull the linen and trash. They also learn correct handling of contaminated items and how to correctly wear personal protective equipment.

Digestive Health Students clean patient areas and beds and put together patient welcome bags. Welcome bags contain the patient gown, slippers, hair net and any supplies that are needed.

Linen Department The students work in three areas. In the scrub room, students pass out scrubs to staff. Building linen carts require the student to use a book of what items are needed on each cart. The carts go to each of the nursing units. Linen chutes require the students to collect the dirty linen from the different areas in the hospital.

Dietary In Dietary the students work with Aramark to prepare meals for the patients. They learn proper food handling and the different dietary restrictions. Students make salads and boxed lunches and work on the tray line. On Friday’s, students can make more than 120 boxed lunches in 2 hours.

Dietary Stock Students work with the receiving team from Aramark to date, break down pallets, rotate and stock the pantries , coolers and freezers.

Material Handling Students work in the Warehouse pulling orders and taking product up to the nursing floors and office building. Students also help stock the sterilized water and break-down boxes.

Guest Services Guest Services work at the Information Desks throughout the hospital. Students help direct patients and visitors to doctors appointments, and procedures. If a visitor has difficulty walking, students will push them in wheelchairs.

Gift Shop Students help in the afternoon to price, display, rotate stock, and help customers. Students learn the register, but do not handle money.

Environmental Services Students clean in three areas: Pediatric Emergency Room, Event Room Set-up and Common Areas. Students learn how to correctly use cleaning solutions, using correct personal protection, how to clean patient rooms and to greet patients and family members.

Patient Transport In Patient Transport, students work with a Mentor who teaches them how to safely transport a student from one area in the hospital to another.

Equipment Transport Equipment Transport teaches students the correct way to safely use the equipment in the hospital. Wheelchairs have several areas on them that are considered pinch points. Students need to learn how to safely operate the equipment. Students also learn how to safely stock and use oxygen tanks.

Mail Run Students learn their way around the hospital by delivery mail. Students collect and deliver mail and packages to the different departments in the hospital and office building. They also deliver cards to the patients.
